This study investigated Television as an instrument for disseminating political information in Awka metropolics. The main thrust of the research was to examine television as an instrument for disseminating political information against other media organs. The objectives of the study centered around ascertaining the residents access to television, their level of exposure to political information, audience’s preference for political information, effectiveness of the political programme, effectiveness of television in disseminating political information and to find out if there were impediments to the use of television as an instrument for disseminating political information. The Survey method of research was adopted and the instruments used in the collection of data for the analysis were the questionnaire. A total of 381 copies of questionnaire were sent out, 363 were found useful for the study while 18 were not useful. The analysis of the data using the simple percentage revealed that most of the audiences agree that television is an effective instrument for disseminating political information. The researcher, therefore, concluded that television is a potent tool for providing news and information to Nigerians for effective dissemination of political information. The recommendations among others were that television operation should be addressed to ensure effective political information.
