In Nigeria, there has been a major challenge in the extending of commercial banks credit to investors, especially the small scale enterprises. It is a fact that none of these industries can grow without the required financial assistance from the financial institutions. Access to affordable and effective financial products remain out of the reach of most small scale industries, despite the existence of the commercial banks and their role in promoting credit financing and co-operative banking. In this research work, we try to find out where the problems lies, is it that the commercial banks have not made these credit available? Or is it that the credit provided have not been properly utilized? Also, we try to access the scale at which the commercial banks in Nigeria have encouraged small scale enterprises performance in Nigeria.
