The method of keeping track of books in the library is manual, tedious and inefficient. This results to delay of services, loss of books and inadequacy of information. Besides, it is unlikely that libraries will continue to satisfy user needs using traditional catalogues as the primary access mechanism. To be certain, on-line catalogues proceeds good access to books, journals, user records, films, microfiches and other materials traditionally kept in libraries. The rapid pace of technological changes in the libraries and the need of up-to date information necessitated the study of this important topic . DIGITAL LIBRARY SERVICES SYSTEM. The software design from this study is expected to deliver services to library users and more importantly, give effective coordination to library activities. This package has been tested and observed to provide a great improvement on the existing library system. The system was developed in visual basic 6.0.
